Joan Bixby Nomination

The purpose of the Joan Bixby Award is to recognize individuals who enhance the climate for women’s participation and development at Florida Institute of Technology. By demonstrating leadership, serving as a role model, advocate or mentor or by providing new opportunities, the recipient of this award shows a commitment to the advancement of women at Florida Institute of Technology.

Eligible candidates shall be individuals (men or women) who have demonstrated a commitment to improving Florida Institute of Technology for women. Candidates shall have distinguished themselves in one or more of the following areas:

Contributions to Women’s History

Education and Training – developing women’s programs
Employment Practices and Opportunities – improving employment practices or advocating and establishing new offices
Health, Wellbeing, and Security – making services available, changes to facilities, or advocating products to improve conditions for women
Equity and Parity Issues – seeking changes to align programs and services offered with those available to men or to women at other educational institutions.
Networking – mentoring or organizations that foster social and professional associations
Social Standing and Status – promotion of women’s accomplishments in the community.

The Florida Tech Alumni Association will select the award recipients and will present the Joan Bixby Award annually during the National Women’s History Month celebration in March.
