ZONTA CLUB CHOOSES ZONTIAN OF THE YEAR
Annually, the members of the Zonta Club of Melbourne choose a member of the club whom they feel best represents the ideal Zontian. This year, they chose two: Lola Mitchell of CareerTransitions Consulting and Doris Larson of Dodie & Co.
Lola takes an active role in the clubs’ Anti-Human Trafficking and Pridmore Center projects as well as contributing financially as a Chocolate Festival sponsor and as a general donor for scholarships and service projects. She attends meetings and events around the county and promotes Zonta to all she encounters.
Doris serves as club Treasurer, Chocolate Festival co-chair and Chair of the Public Relations Committee. Doris has been a tireless advocate for Zonta for 21 years and lives the goals and ideals of Zonta, to assist women in all walks of life, in every aspect of her daily life. She first joined Zonta in Annapolis, Maryland and transferred her membership to Melbourne when she moved here in 2002.
Both women demonstrate honesty and trustworthyness, which is how the word Zonta translates from the Sioux language.
The Zonta Club of Melbourne, a member of Zonta International, was chartered in 1983. The club participates in service projects and scholarships advancing the status of women globally, nationally and locally. More information can be found at www.zontaspactcoast.org.
Zonta International, with world headquarters in Oak Brook, IL, USA, is a world-wide service organization of male and female executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women.
