ZONTA CLUB AWARDS SCHOLARSHIP
Gwen Coates has been awarded the Zonta Club of Melbourne’s Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship. Gwen lives in Palm Bay and plans to attend DeVry College online to complete an accounting class that will add necessary skills in accounting.
Gwen already holds an MA in Accounting and an MBA. She does not meet the profile of the typical recipient of the Scholarship as it usually goes to a Junior or Senior level college student. Gwen is a former Adjunct Business Instructor and was recently laid off due to budget cuts at the College where she taught. Gwen is going back to school to hone her skills.
During this readjustment period, Gwen is serving on her church’s Finance Committee, and as a business counselor at the Women’s Business Center at FIT.
The Zonta Club of Melbourne is proud to support Gwen through her transition and are grateful to be able to show flexibility in it’s scholarship criteria and strives to do so with all three of the scholarships it grants annually.
