WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U. S. Small Business Administration announced today that 58 non-profit organizations from 32 states and the District of Columbia will receive grant funding under the Program for Investment in Microentrepreneurs Act (PRIME) to assist low-income and very low-income entrepreneurs with training and technical assistance to start, operate, and grow their businesses. Competition for PRIME grants was open to applicants in all 50 states and the U.S. territories. SBA received more than 400 applications. Last year, SBA funded 35 grants in 12 states on a non-competitive basis. (more)

WASHINGTON –The U. S. Small Business Administration announced that it is accommodating concerns raised regarding the recently announced policy guidance on the financing of goodwill. SBA will consider loans for larger goodwill amounts on a case-by-case basis through August 31, 2009. The announced policy guidance originally allows SBA loans to be used to finance goodwill, but limits that financing to no more than half the loan amount, up to $250,000. (more)

The Web site states, “Do not assume that your homeowners or renter’s insurance policy will cover the professional equipment in your home or your liability needs. Most homeowners and renters` policies specifically exclude coverage for property used in a business. If your home-based business involves products, inventory or walk-in customers, you will need a business insurance policy. The Zonta Club of Melbourne’s 4th Annual Chocolate Festival will touch your heart and your sweet tooth. Brevard’s best chocolatiers, pastry chefs and restauranteurs come together with community volunteers to raise funds to support programs that improve the lives of women and girls.
